The Power of Remembering in a Changing World

Missed writing the past few weeks; I've been pretty occupied and wasn't feeling too great. But as you all know, those are just excuses, and I shouldn’t be making them 😂. Bottom line: I’m here, and I’m writing again. That’s what truly matters.

Many times, we commit to certain things, hoping for a perfect track record. But life happens, and we miss a few times. However, the willingness to show up again despite those misses is what truly defines us. And on that note, let’s dive into today’s article.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how these article ideas come to me. I was taking a short break from work when I started reflecting on how everything changes, and how, as humans, we’ve learned to adapt. We position ourselves to handle whatever comes through knowledge, intelligence, and collaboration. That led me to this realization:

Most of Our Problems Come from Forgetting

Often, we get stuck in routines or mundane ways of doing things. We fail to remember that what anchors us amid ever-changing circumstances is our ability to recall and consciously practice the habits, thought patterns, and behaviors that keep us grounded.

When we forget these things, we fall into cycles of challenges that could have been avoided had we maintained our anchor through good habits and productive thinking.

They say variety is the spice of life, so embracing change is important. But even as everything shifts, certain principles and belief systems remain constant, keeping us steady despite the changes.

The More Things Change, the More Good Practices Stay the Same

Sometimes, we get so caught up in the whirlwind of change that we unconsciously abandon the practices that help us adapt. When this happens, we find ourselves overwhelmed by chaos because we’ve lost our anchor.

Of course, there are moments when we need to change our minds, habits, or approaches. But from experience, we recognize patterns; things that have always worked regardless of how much the world around us evolves. These are the principles that have stood the test of time.

When we neglect these tried-and-true ways of thinking and behaving, we risk losing ourselves in the turbulence of change. The key to regaining control is to return to what has always worked for us.

Knowing When to Adapt and When to Stay Grounded

Some things must remain routine, no matter how we feel. Others need to change when faced with undeniable truths. The challenge is knowing the difference.

This awareness comes from personal reflection; analyzing our lives and unique circumstances. When we do, we develop the ability to recognize when we’re forgetting something important and when we’re making the right choices.

The way to gauge this is simple: look at how you’re handling change.

- If you’re struggling, it might be time to revisit the basics and remind yourself of what worked before.

- If you’re managing well, you’re on the right track; but be careful. Comfort can make us complacent, and that’s when we’re most likely to forget the habits that keep us afloat.

But don’t worry, when we do forget, life has a way of reminding us. Reality acts as a mirror, reflecting whether we’re staying anchored or drifting away.

Change Never Ends - So Our Commitment Must Never End

Change is constant. It’s guaranteed. To keep up, we must make a conscious effort to hold onto the principles that give us an edge.

Since change never stops, our dedication to the routines, patterns, and behaviors that sustain us must also be unwavering.

The Human Factor: We Forget, But We Can Always Remember

We’re human, and sometimes we forget. But ideally, we should strive to remain mindful so we can stay ahead of life’s endless changes. When we don’t forget, our ability to navigate change successfully also remains constant.

Still, we all falter at times, and that’s okay. External reality provides feedback when we’re losing our way. The good news? We can always bounce back. When we remember and realign with the principles that keep us anchored, victory is inevitable.

Keep winning!
